The second day of planned closures to Crown Range Road (Wednesday, April 10) will be moved to Thursday, April 11 due to forecast heavy rains.
Crown Range Road will be closed for extended periods of time tomorrow (Tuesday, April 9) and Wednesday, April 10 to allow for blasting works, rock removal, scaling and road clearing in two sites.
Closures will be signed, gated and manned from Eastburn Road and Cardrona.
Traffic management will be on site both days from 8.30am, with one-lane traffic established until 9.30am. From 9.30am, Crown Range Road will be completely closed to traffic until 3.30pm with the Kawarau Gorge (SH6) as the alternative travel route. One-lane traffic will be re- established from 3.30pm until 5.00pm, whereby both lanes will be opened.
Works are planned for two specific sites: the ‘Laser Kiwi’ slip on Tuesday, and the Chain Bay 5 slip on Wednesday.
