Wanaka crash victim’s name released

Police can now release the name of the woman who died in a crash on the Wanaka-Mount Aspiring Road yesterday morning, 21 June.

She was 25-year-old Taiwanese national Meng-Ju Hsieh who had been living in Wanaka.

Police offer their sympathies to her friends and family at this difficult time.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.

One person had died following a serious crash near Wanaka this morning.

The crash occurred on Wanaka-Mount Aspiring Rd, about 8km past the access road to the Treble Cone ski area.

Police received a report that a car had left the road and gone into a creek around 11.20am.

The Serious Crash Unit is attending.
