Bob Steel has once again won the Wānaka Bowling Club’s Men’s Junior Pairs (with Alan Coupe) and the Men’s Junior Singles. This comes as a satisfactory reprise after his 2019 wins in the Junior Men’s Singles and Pairs Championships. Last week, Steel won the singles event against Frank Ruddiman 21-10 with some consistently accurate ‘draw bowls.’
Impressively, Steel also went through both of this year’s championships unscathed, with only wins under his belt. A junior bowler is a classification not based on age, but rather someone who is still in their first five years of bowling. Steel still has one more season as a junior: one more season to make it his third year in a row to win the championships.
